Lions Clubs International is the world's largest service club organization with 1.35 million members in 46,028 clubs in 192 countries and geographical areas. Lions are men and women who volunteer their time to humanitarian causes. Founded in 1917, the association's motto is "We Serve."

Service To Others - Lions clubs are recognized for their service to the blind and visually impaired. This service began when Helen Keller challenged Lions to become "knights of the blind in the crusade against darkness" during the 1925 Lions Clubs International Convention.

Leader Dog Summer Experience - A unique summer camp for boys and girls ages 16 and 17 who are legally blind combining summer fun, independent travel skill training, leadership development, an introduction to guide dogs and the opportunity to spend time with peers facing similar challenges.  Campers receive a free GPS device with instruction and spend time with dogs and Leader Dog guide dog mobility instructors to learn more about living and working with a guide dog.  The program is completely free including airfare.  For more information and to start the application process, visit Leaderdog.org/clients/programs/summer-experience-camp or call the Leader Dog client services department at 888.777.5332
